How to maintain the welding column and boom?

Publish Time: 2021-12-24     Origin: Site

Welder maintenance should follow a series of proper and thorough maintenance procedures that can keep a welder running safely and reliably for a very long time. Incorrect, incomplete or completely neglected maintenance can lead not only to equipment failure, but also to serious hazards, including serious injury and even death. With some forethought and basic planning, welder maintenance is very easy. Let's find out what to do for welding manipulator care and maintenance!

This passage is going to talk about the following components of welding column and boom:

1) The importance of welding machine maintenance

2) Maintenance measures for the electrical system of the welding manipulator

3) Welding manipulator's protective gas cylinder maintenance

1) The importance of welding machine maintenance

A welding manipulator is a device that helps the operator to reach any area where welding operations are required. Its function is to provide the same lift and reach the capabilities of highly skilled welders. Each component and inch of the welding manipulator is manufactured to be the ideal companion for your welding operation. The center column has an attachment to hold the welding head, which can be changed to suit your preferred angle and size. It also includes swivel wheels to speed up operation, but if you want to remain stable during the welding process, you can easily tighten the screws in the system to hold the manipulator securely in place. If you don't properly maintain your welder's manipulator after use, your equipment will cost you a lot less! Let's read on to learn more about maintaining clean equipment.

2) Maintenance measures for the electrical system of the welding manipulator

Electricity plays an important role in welding as it is the primary power source for most welding processes, with oxy-acetylene gas welding being the only exception. The hazards of electricity are enormous, and the consequences of accidents caused by electrical problems include debilitating injuries or death. These risks require regular inspection of all electrical components in the welder. This includes the following routines.

Disconnect all power units and blow out or vacuum the inside of the machine at least every six months.

Inspect and clean (with a wire brush) the wire feeder and drive rollers (replace if necessary) at least every three to four months. In addition, inspect and clean (or replace if necessary) the inlet and outlet guides.

Arrange for technicians to service the torch and bushing assembly at least once a year.

Inspect all cables for signs of wear, including cracks and breaks, at least once a month and immediately replace any cables with excessively worn or damaged insulation.

Inspect electrical safety equipment once a month to ensure circuit breakers and interlocks are working properly.

3) Welding manipulator's protective gas cylinder maintenance

Always store protective gas cylinders in a cool, dry environment. Also, be sure to keep them in an upright position. Inspect and test regulators and valves at least every six months to ensure that there are no leaks or ruptures that would cause incorrect pressure readings.

Hoses need to be stored coiled. This will prevent damage from long-term kinking caused by improper storage of the hose or from being stepped on while left on the floor. Any squeaky or damaged hoses need to be replaced immediately.
